PROTECT HAWAII'S CORAL REEFS

Help us support the upcoming reef-safe sunscreen legislation efforts in Hawaii.

DID YOU KNOW THAT HAWAII IS ATTEMPTING TO BE THE FIRST STATE TO BAN THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS FOUND IN CHEMICAL SUNSCREENS WHICH HAVE BEEN LINKED TO THE KILLING OF CORALS?

Help us support awareness about the 2018 reef-safe sunscreen legislation efforts in Hawaii. We have teamed up with Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii and we want you to join us! Here’s how: Buy the shirt, spread the word.

CORAL SHAKA T-SHIRT

We have produced a limited edition, organic, chemical-free t-shirt, in support of Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii.

Each garment is made with a 100% non-toxic, vegetable-based indigo dye and is hand-dipped using the traditional process which creates each shirt’s distinctive character and modern-vintage style.

No two shirts are alike.

MANDA will be sharing 50% the proceeds from each purchase to Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii to help on the frontlines in Hawaii.

SUNSCREEN CHEMICALS ENTER THE OCEAN BY WASHING OFF SWIMMERS, SURFERS, PADDLERS, SPEARFISHERS, DIVERS, AND OTHER OCEAN USERS.

RESEARCHERS HAVE FOUND OXYBENZONE CONCENTRATIONS IN SOME HAWAIIAN WATERS AT MORE THAN THIRTY TIMES THE LEVEL CONSIDERED SAFE FOR CORALS.

THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE REPORTS THAT 4,000 TO 6,000 TONS OF SUNSCREEN ANNUALLY ENTER REEFS, FROM SUNSCREEN-WEARING PEOPLE IN THE WATER.

Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii started in 2010 with 8 friends sitting around a table in a small house in Kaimuki. This grassroots, local nonprofit organization inspires local communities to care for their coastlines through fun, hands-on beach cleanups, educational programs, a voluntourism program, waste diversion services, public awareness campaigns and help others run their own beach cleanups.
